MEDIA RELEASE: Leslieville Co-working Hub Launches Red Door Crowdfunding Campaign

Toronto, ON, April 9th 2015 – Co-working hub, The Vandenberg House today announced it will be partnering with Leslieville’s Red Door Family Shelter on a crowd-funding campaign to raise $10,000, the total annual cost of their Preschool Program at the Violence Against Women Shelter. The program provides early learning and social skills to children, and is especially vital because kids make up over 50 per cent of the shelter’s residents. It also provides support for mothers so that they can search for appropriate housing, attend appointments, job interviews, and counselling without having to worry about the safety and security of their children.

“Since the conception of The VandenBerg House in December, we have had tremendous interest and engagement from the Leslieville community,” said Christiane Tetreault, founding President and CEO, The VandenBerg House. “The Red Door’s recent triumph to keep their doors open received so much support in the community, and resonated with me as the same sense of civic collaboration that The VandenBerg House embodies. So, the crowd-funding campaign is a way for us to tap into those feelings and create interesting opportunities between business and community.”

This bustling shared-office and events space will also be hosting the Eastside Pop-Up Market Summer Series to showcase Toronto’s eastside vibrant business and artisan community. The themed markets will occur monthly from May-October 2015 and include The Good for the Soul Pop-Up, The Baby Be Good Pop-Up, The Fashionista Pop-Up, and The Mom-preneur Pop-Up, among others. Vendors interested in participating are encouraged to contact The VandenBerg House at 647-932-2177 or email contact@thevberhouse.ca
